Top 10 Date Night Ideas
Sometimes date nights can get stuck in a rut or you can run out of ideas of what to do, especially for dates that can happen in all seasons. You want to be creative and romantic and sometimes just downright fun! So here are my top ten favourite date night ideas that myself and my husband have both enjoyed! Each date will also include a cost ranking of $-cheap or free, $$-moderately expensive, $$$-pricey.
1. Drive In Theater
Drive-in movies are much harder to come by these days but if you have one in your area then I would highly recommend going to it. There is just something so appealing about watching a movie on a giant screen under the stars and enjoying some solid popcorn. Go on a warm evening and bring some blankets and snacks and snuggle up for a movie night out together! ($)
2. Outdoor Skating
Where I live we have the largest outdoor natural skating circuit and it is a blast to do! I would definitely encourage you, in the winter, to find an outdoor rink and enjoy skating in with the snow falling down around you and then getting some much deserved hot chocolate together afterwards. ($)
3. Dinner Night In
Try cooking a new and fancy recipe together at home! I promise that nothing helps your communication skills more than trying to both be in the kitchen at the same time. You will also end up with a delicious meal at the end of it and why not dress up and light some candles while your at it to create the full romantic date atmosphere. ($$)
4. Hobbies
Try one of your significant others hobbies! My husband is a big fisher and hunter, and while I acknowledge that might be a bigger stretch for some ladies, it is some of the most fun I've ever had having him teach me these hobbies. This should go both ways also! Have him commit to a day of learning and engaging in one of your favourite hobbies. Teach and learn from one another and you will definitely find you have a closer connection after doing this. ($-$$)
5. Hiking
You may not be the exercising type but even just walking through local trails can be a really fun date activity. So throw on your cute workout wear and running shoes and hike some trails together. If your adventurous you can even try some rock climbing while your at it! ($)
6. Dinner Date Out
So sometimes life just calls for a nice date night out where you spend a little more on a restaurant you've never been to before and buy a whole bottle of wine with dinner to just celebrate the two of you. So dress up nice and make some reservations at a new restaurant and treat your selves! ($$$)
7. Movie Marathon
This is my variation of Netflix & Chill where you both take turns picking movies and watch them all day! Stay in your pajamas all day and pop some popcorn and enjoy a date day in. Try and chose a large variety of genres and share the power over the remote. ($)
8. Road Trip
This can be a day trip or you can turn it into a weekend if it works but try and drive to somewhere you've never been before! Chose what you want to get out of your road trip, whether it's for food, sight seeing, an activity or just to travel a little bit and go! Planning out a trip together like this can be a great bonding experience and allow for lots of time for great conversation together. ($$)
9. Tour Your City
Act like a tourist in your own city and go see museums, tourist destinations, aquariums or whatever your city has to offer! Take cheesy photos and enjoy rediscovering your city together. ($)
10. Scavenger Hunt
There are plenty of photo scavenger hunts that you can get off of the internet. They would give you guys the chance to have some laughs, maybe grab some friends and end up with a lot of great photos out of it. Highly recommend this date for groups and for a bit of a night out. ($)
